Our Safeguarding Procedures
Confidentiality and child protection are critical in high-quality support services. All therapists working within TESSA are ACCESS NI enhanced disclosure checked, carry professional indemnity insurance, belong to a professional regulatory body and are required to abide by a professional code of ethics. Additionally, they have been trained in Adoption UK’s two-day Insight and Strategies training for professionals working in adoption. This ensures that they have an awareness of adoption issues such as attachment and developmental trauma, struggles at school, post-adoption depression, secondary trauma, blocked care and the need for parental self care.
The services we offer within TESSA are therapeutic with a small “t”. All families referred to the service are assessed by a counsellor or therapist and services are offered by a referral panel who work to a strict set of criteria while considering the needs of each family on an individual basis. We are a funded service and as such we are required to monitor and evaluate the services we deliver and the impact of those services on the families who receive them. For this reason we do need you to complete evaluation forms. Please be assured that any reports completed by counsellors and therapists are treated confidentially and all feedback to our funders is anonymous.
